Darbhanga Airport is a domestic airport in DarbhangaBihar, India. It has the longest runway in Bihar and thus is able to handle the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737. It is situated at around 6 kilometers from the District Headquarter.It is well connected by roadways and an over bridge has been constructed which supports super flow of traffic. Earlier this airport was under Indian Air Force but Airport Authority of India got the permission from Defence Ministry to use the runway for commercial flights. For this purpose Airport Authority of India is now investing around ₹100 crores under UDAN scheme of Government of India.Runway strengthening work is now in full swing and a portakabin is also under construction which will serve as a temporary terminal building.The foundation stone was laid by the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu in the presence of state Civil Aviation Minister Jayant Sinha on 24 December 2018. It will serve various districts of Mithila region.[2][3]
