Bhubaneswar: Odisha extended the state lockout until April 30, then shut down educational institutions until June 17 to curtail Covid-19’s expansion.
“At this critical juncture one needs to distinguish between securing people’s lives and doing business. The state cabinet, meeting today, agreed that protecting the lives of our people at this juncture is the highest priority.
The state cabinet has voted to recommend that the Center expand the national 21-day lockdown to April 30, starting April 14. Odisha wants to prevent the Centre from resuming rail and air service before the end of the month. During the lockdown time, activities relating to agriculture, animal husbandry and the flagship rural jobs scheme MGNREGA will be facilitated while pursuing social distance
That Odisha had only 42 successful Covid-19 cases after the first case was registered on March 15, was a result of the citizen’s disciple, Patnaik said. The USA has moved from 3,000 to four lakh cases over the same time. The United States has lost more men to Covid-19 than both the wars and 9/11 attacks put together, and the government as a whole has not yet been locked up.
Biju Janata Dal MP Pinaki Mishra, speaking to News Channel on Wednesday, said he was expecting the Center to expand the nationwide lockdown. Odisha had demanded versatility on exit approaches from the Center.
