Mumbai: A 26-year-old television actor from Bihar, Akshat Utkarsh, was found dead on Sunday night in his rented apartment in the Andheri area of Mumbai. Akshat died by suicide, according to Amboli police officials, and was depressed because of a lack of work. However, his family has denied the narrative of depression, arguing that the young actor was murdered. His body was taken on Tuesday by his family to his native Muzaffarpur. They have police incompetence suspected.
Police officials said Akshat used to stay in a neighbourhood near Andheri, RTO, with one of his female friends when the incident occurred. Akshat was behaving as usual on Sunday night, according to his roommate’s comment, and they chatted about different things as usual, and then had dinner together before going to sleep.
“She found Akshat dead in his room at around 11.30 pm when she woke up to use the washroom, after which she immediately called the police,” an officer from the Amboli police station said. A squad of police officers hastened to hurry h-h.

“We have reported an Accidental Death Record (ADR) and are investigating the matter,” Someshwar Kanthe, senior police inspector at Amboli police station, said. No foul play is suggested in the preliminary enquiry and autopsy report. The incident took place anywhere between 10 pm and 11:30 pm on Sunday night.
Police officers who asked his friends that Akshat was in depression because due to the lockdown and because he had to borrow money from his family and friends, there was no work.
His maternal uncle, Ranjit Singh, told Hindustan that Akshat had been murdered. He said that the Mumbai Police had not taken the case seriously and had not even lodged a FIR in the case. He also dismissed Akshat ‘s depression, saying the actor was searching for work and had found a film as well.
